Abe,

Your Camaro sounds great. Let's talk a bit more about entering your vehicle into the race to see if we can make it work. Just email me/jess jess@escapfromberkeley.com

Cheers,
Jess

I would love to enter a fully 100% compressed hydrogen powered vehicle (we are converting a camaro), but with the restriction that we have to start with less than 10kW of power, this is .28 of a kg (roughly 1/3 of a gallon of gasoline equivelent). There are non petrol fueling stations on the way that would be great to fill at, although we could bring our own fueling system, but would require a day to fill up. Does this disqualify us as we aren't your target market for the race?

Thanks!

Hi again to the EFB crew!

I just wanted to know how the BBQ/planning party went. What is the ETA for the rules posting and are there any pictures of the event? The Earthday shin-dig down in San Diego left a lot to be desired. I would have rather spent the day up at the Shipyard.

Anyways, hope all is going well.

Peace out,
Lundy

Ahrg!

You have to run this one week AFTER I visit Berkeley! Now, I am too far away to join the fun!

Oh,well. I encourage all who can to join the EFB crew at the shipyard. The food is good, the company is great and the ambiance cannot be matched.

Peace out,
Lundy

I may not be able to attend, so here are my comments.
I suggest participants may purchase (non-petroleum) fuel with money. Begging and bartering have little to do with advancing non-petroleum technology.

Participants should be able to start the race with as much fuel as they like. An electric powered vehicle should be able to start the race with a full charge. Is re-charging from the power grid (PG&E) a-non petroleum fuel, or must the batteries be recharged from a non-petroleum generator?

Scoring should be weighted to give points for the least amount of fuel consumed. Participants would certify the amount of energy they consumed.

I'm not averse to freeways from a competition standpoint--we're more streamlined and less air-leaky than we were last year--but it sure as heck isn't much fun as the back roads, and we enjoyed the people we met in small towns more than the people we met at the interstate offramp businesses.

Nick,

This is only to show more or less where we are going. This is NOT the final map. We won't release that until closer to the race. Like last year the suggested route and daily check points will stay to roads and highways that are bicycle friendly.

Cheer,
Jess
